OTi-2188 USB 2.0 Portable Data Bank Controller

The OTi-2188 is a highly integrated and reliable controller chip incorporating USB host, USB device, and different types of media interfaces on a single chip. The controller is quite suitable for data bank application without the use of a computer.

With the built-in ATA interface, the controller can be connected to an HDD (Hard Disk Drive) as the storage media of a data bank product. By connecting the data bank to the USB port of any device supporting USB Mass Storage Class, the host capability of OTi-2188 enables you to copy the data stored in the device into the HDD. This is especially useful when the connected device is a DSC (Digital Still Camera). The pictures stored in the memory card of a DSC can be downloaded to the data bank when the memory card is full. All the data of the memory card then can be erased and the card can be reused as a brand new one.

The OTi-2188 also contains other standard interfaces for more multi-media applications: I²C and BitStream interfaces for MP3 decoder, Parallel interface for LCD panel or microprocessor, and GPIO interfaces for some I/O devices. A crystal of 12MHz and slew-rate controlled pads are used to alleviate the EMI problem.

This controller can operate on Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows ME, and Mac OS without the need of installing a driver. It is available in 128-pin LQFP package.
